THERAPY FOR HELPING PROFESSIONALS IN ILLINOIS
You take care of everyone. Who's taking care of the caretaker?
Therapy for therapists, nurses, teachers, and the people who hold everyone else together.
You’re good at your job. You show up, hold space for hard things, and make it look manageable. But your nervous system has been on high alert for so long that lately, there’s not much left in the tank. Therapy for helping professionals is where you finally get to be the one who’s taken care of.
(And yes, this one’s open to the men in the helping fields too.)
You can advocate for everyone but yourself
You'll go to the mat for a client, a patient, a student, or a family. You'll stay late, take the extra case, cover the shift, and find the words nobody else could find. But when someone asks what you need, you go completely blank.
Somewhere along the way, needing things started to feel like a luxury you couldn't afford. Boundaries feel selfish. Asking for less feels like failing. So you keep absorbing everyone's hardest days, carrying them home in your body, into your evenings, and into the space that's supposed to be yours.
Eventually, it catches up with you. The exhaustion that sleep doesn't touch. The Sunday scaries. The quiet worry that you're running low on the very thing your whole career is built on.
You don't need to care less about the people you help. You need to stop hauling the whole day home in your body and start advocating for yourself the way you do for everyone else.
What we work on together
Friendships that don’t feel the way they used to
A lot of the women I work with are in the stretch of life where friendships strain, careers, moves, marriages, and kids pull everyone in different directions. If someone having less time for you feels like proof you’re being left behind, we’ll gently look at where that fear comes from, and build a little more flex, so you can hold the friendship without bracing against it. Feelings first, always. We’re not talking you out of the hurt, we’re making it easier to carry and easier to name.
Family patterns that still run the show
The dynamics you grew up inside are usually the ones still shaping how you show up now. We look at where the patterns started, whose job it became to keep the peace, and how to have a need without feeling like you’re asking too much. The goal isn’t to fix your family. It’s to change how much power the old script has over you.
A marriage you’re still deciding about
If your marriage is the thing weighing on you, this is individual work, on you, inside the relationship. Not couples counseling. Both “I’m trying to make this work” and “I’m trying to figure out if it can” are allowed here, at your pace, without anyone rushing you toward an answer.
A GROUNDED APPROACH TO RELATIONSHIPS
How I work
When we work on relationships, we're not just looking at what's happening with the people in your life right now. We're also looking at the patterns you've carried into those relationships, where they started, and why certain situations can bring up such strong feelings.
I use attachment-based work to help you understand where those patterns started, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help you make choices based on what matters to you rather than the fear of losing someone, and body-based tools to help you steady yourself when emotions run high. Whether you're navigating a changing friendship, a complicated family relationship, or uncertainty in your marriage, we'll work on responding in ways that feel more like you.
This work takes time, especially when the relationships we're talking about are still part of your everyday life. We'll move at a pace that makes sense for you, with room to figure things out along the way.

MAKING SPACE FOR YOUR OWN NEEDS
You can't change someone else, but you can work on your part.
Maybe you're struggling in your marriage, feeling disconnected from a friend, or dealing with the same frustrating family dynamics you've dealt with for years. And maybe you've caught yourself thinking, “What's the point of working on myself if the other person isn't going to change?”
It's a fair question. You can't make someone communicate differently, respect your boundaries, or understand where you're coming from. But you can learn to recognize your own reactions, get clearer on what you need, and decide how you want to respond instead of getting pulled into the same patterns.
That's where individual therapy can make a difference. We're not putting the responsibility for the entire relationship on your shoulders. We're focusing on the part you do have a say in: yourself. And sometimes, changing how you show up in a relationship can change a lot about how you experience it.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No, I work with individuals only. If a relationship or marriage is what brought you here, we can absolutely work on it, but the focus is on you, and the space is yours.
-
Not even a little. Friendship grief and friendship anxiety are real, and they're some of the most common things women bring me. You don't need a bigger reason than "this is hurting."
-
Absolutely. Sometimes the way we respond to people today has a lot to do with what we learned about relationships growing up. Maybe you learned to keep the peace, put everyone else's needs first, or worry about disappointing people. We can explore where those patterns started, how they're showing up in your relationships now, and what you might want to do differently.
-
Absolutely. You don't have to come in knowing what you want to do. We can talk through what's happening, what you've been feeling, and what matters most to you. My job isn't to convince you to stay or leave. It's to help you get clearer on what you want and need.
-
There's no set timeline, especially when we're working through patterns that have been part of your life for years. Some things may start to shift as you understand yourself better, while others take more time and practice. We'll move at a pace that makes sense for you and check in along the way.
You can love people and still be worn out by them. Both are allowed here.
